As stated on GammaPhiBeta.org, our philanthropic mission is “to prove experiences and resources that build spiritual, mental, and social resiliency in girls. We do this through our philanthropic focus, Building Strong Girls”.
Locally, we partner with CPDC (the Children’s Physical Developmental Clinic). With CPDC, our sisters (and many other students here at BSU) volunteer on Saturday mornings to work with kids aged 18 months to 18 years old with disabilities in order to help children develop their physical and motor skills as well as their self esteem. We help raise money for CPDC during the spring semester by participating in Rock-a-Thon where, for 24 hours, our sisters rock in rocking chairs in University Park.
Internationally, we partner with Girls on the Run. This international organization is “dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams”, as stated on the website Girlsontherun.org. In the fall semester, we support Girls on the Run with our philanthropy event Moonball. At BSU, this is a volleyball tournament in which we invite students, faculty, alumnae and others in the community to come and play and help raise money for Girls on the Run.
